Overview

What it is

NAD+ is a naturally occurring coenzyme found throughout the body. Cells require it for energy metabolism, redox reactions, mitochondrial function, DNA-repair pathways and signaling involving enzymes such as sirtuins and PARPs.

NAD+ is technically a coenzyme—not a peptide. Strong biological importance does not by itself establish anti-aging or wellness benefits from administering NAD+.

Evidence

Research snapshot

Human studies of oral precursors such as NMN and NR consistently show changes in NAD-related biomarkers, but improvements in physical performance, metabolism and aging outcomes are inconsistent.

A 2026 systematic review found no eligible clinical-outcome trials of IV or intramuscular NAD+ itself for anti-aging or wellness indications.

Community discussion

Wellness communities frequently discuss energy, clarity and recovery after IV or injectable NAD+. Those reports have not been established in controlled clinical-outcome trials.
